The floor number system can be confusing, floors 1 through 4 were apartments, bachelor dormitories, and common areas, Ground floor held dining rooms, stores, and the theater, and the basement had the gym, pool, bowling alley, clinic, and jail, along with storage and mechanical rooms. Sub-basements and a network of small steam tunnels ran under each wing supplying utilities to all parts of the building. At least one large pedestrian tunnel leads between the Buckner and Hodge building, and there may be a network of tunnels under the rest of the town left over from the planned expansion.
