Washburn-Crosby / Gold Medal Flour Mill

An abandoned flour mill on the banks of the Mississippi, this structure has a series of large grain silos, some interesting basement levels, and a pair of large lighted signs on the roof. Next door is a museum and some loft apartments all made from refurbished mills, and the ruins of earlier mills line the banks of the river nearby. Beneath the mill are tailrace tunnels where water from the power wheels was dumped to return to the river.

We didn't have much time to explore after getting out of Satan's Cave earlier in the night, so we went straight for the roof.

Climbing the large sign was the most fun of the whole exploration, the view of sunrise was impressive, and the adrenalin rush from being on a swaying, creaking sign hundreds of feet above the city was a blast.
