Manchester and Wales

After Europex, several of the visiting explorers decided to investigate a castle in Wales. On the way we stopped in Manchester England to do some drains and anything else we might find.

An interesting canal tunnel, and the local equivalent of Neds.

Much bad photography ensued after we snuck 5 people and 36 pint cans into a 2 person hotel room.
Unfortunately we forgot to take cameras to the roof, and didn't get photos of Jim's 10-100 onto the city.
If Jim sends me photos of my dodgy crashout, I'll put it up here.

The Works drain, a bit smelly and flooded. Jimmah brought waders which started leaking in the CSO canal.
The rest of us just wore shoes or canvas waders, this was the coldest underground water we encountered.

The underground canal room, with a stinky drain passing through this overflow structure. A gate and lowering equipment
was found, but it was severely rusted up. Jim waded out the stinky tunnel to an open canal and met us back on the surface.

An abandoned building, including an architecture office, in downtown Manchester.

The main reason for our side trip to Wales, these are just a few of the best photos from the huge Gwyrych castle.

Some natural caves found by topo map scouting above the castle. The mines rumored to connect to the castle
were not found.

Jim's been away from his girlfriend too long!

We spotted this ship on the way over, and decided to jump off the bus and check it out. Jim's off road luggage
didn't do too well, so we stashed all our gear in a bush and took a closer look. Unfortunately the owner was on board
and chased us off.

It's goodah!
